How to password protect my files and folders in Windows XP? Just encrypt all your files which you don’t want others to see in Windows XP. 1.     Select the  folder  you wish to encrypt. 2.     Right-click the folder and click   Properties . 3.     Click the   Advanced   button. 4.     Check " Encrypt contents to secure data " option. 5.     Click   Apply   and then   Ok . Now other users won’t be able to open these files, unless they access the system from your user account. Use with caution.

Windows 7 users can now setup multiple clocks up to 3 in their system tray. This will help you to keep track of multiple time zones in case you need to. Here is how you do it: ·          Double click the clock in the system tray. ·          Click “ Change date and time settings ”.   This opens the Date and Time Window. ·          Click on the Additional Clocks Tab. ·          Here you can setup the additional time zones you want. Open Run Dialogue Box (Win + R) and type gpedit.msc. Go to Local Computer policy > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Desktop in left side pane. Select Desktop Wallpaper setting from right side pane. Double click it. Click in the "Enable" Radio button and set the path of the wallpaper you want to display constantly. Press OK   to Save changes.

Use Win key + Home to Minimize all inactive Windows. And you can restore the windows by pressing Win Key + Home Again.

When you work with multiple monitors, you can move windows from one monitor to another in Windows 7 using the below Short cut. Win key + Shift + left arrow or Win key + Shift + Right arrow to move windows from one monitor to another. 

Volume Mixer in Windows 7, not just show device volume but also lists all applications that are currently running and producing the audio. You can control the audio of any of the application from there on. So when you are having more than one application that is producing sound you can control from here and stop it as well.

You can assign a shortcut for every individual application in Windows 7! To create Shortcut key for any application in Windows 7: 1. Right-click the program icon and select Properties. 2. Select the Shortcut tab 3. Click in Shortcut key textbox 4. Enter the keyboard shortcut for that program. 5. Press OK. 6. Use the Keyboard shortcut to launch the application.

This works for Windows 7, Vista and Xp. Got to Run Dialog and type "Winver", without the double quotes. you will get a Dialog stating the Windows version you are using. 

Clip is a command used to Copy   contents of the out put from the command prompt into the clipboard.   Example : The command DIR Will List all the ditrectories in the Location you are pointing to in the command Prompt. If you want to copy the output type the command as DIR | CLIP. You will not find any output being displayed in the command Prompt, but the contents will get copied into the Clipboard. Just Open the Notepad and paste. There you go !

Go to the Icon of the Application in the task Bar and Rightclick > Properties. Then set the value of, Number of programs to show in Jump Lists and Number of recent items to show in Jump Lists to any number   you want.

You can easily start Applications that are pinned to the task bar by pressing the Win key + The position of  that program in the task bar. E.g., If Windows Explorer is   the first item to be pinned to the task bar, then Win + 1 will open Windows Explorer. If the second Lying Program is MsWord, Then Win + 2 will   Open MsWord Program.

You can set the Windows 7 Logon screen to anything you like. Just select an Image which is less than 256 kb in size and resize it appropriately for your screen resolution. First go to Run and type "regedit", without the quotes. This will open the registry editor. Navigate to > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\ LogonUI\Background Double click the OEMBackground DWORD key and set the value to 1. Now, paste the image which you chose earlier and copy it to > C:\Windows\system32\oobe\info\backgrounds folder . Rename the image to backgroundDefault.jpg Restart your System and find your new Login Screen Background. 

It’s a pretty easy task. Piece of cake. Click Start> Settings >ControlPanel. Open the Fonts icon. Within the Fonts window you will be able to view each of the currently installed fonts as well as install new fonts. To install a font, click the File menu and select Install New Font .
