Windows installer errors in windows xp

Sometimes softwares while installing may throw windows installer errors. Mostly these errors can be resolved by following the following steps.

Start > run

and then type the below,
msiexec /regserver

 and click  ok.

then open the run dialog box again and type:
msiexec /unreg

and click the ok button.
